Richard McDermott Miller
Died 2004, New York, NY
Richard McDermott Miller placed three female nudes within individual box-like frames to contrast soft curves with hard geometric lines, a device he had used in other works. The frames provide support and visual interest without confining the contemplative figures. The title refers to Saint James, New York, the home of the individual who commissioned the work. This over-life-size sculpture was the subject of Voices in Bronze, a book describing its inspiration, creation and challenges.
