Glenna Goodacre
A prominent sculptor of the human figure, Goodacre has specialized in works of women and children. The Vietnam Woman’s Memorial, located on The Mall in Washington, DC, is her best-known public monument. She also has won awards for sculpture depicting scenes of Native American cultural life. Pledge Allegiance was designed initially in small size as a gift for First Lady Barbara Bush. It was later enlarged for outdoor placement.
